Associate Investment Manager

Job Description and Duties
CalPERS Investment Office is seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Investment Advisory Compliance Associate Investment Manager. The Associate Investment Manager (AIM) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Investment Advisory Compliance unit within INVO. The AIM will maintain a positive team management approach while demonstrating CalPERS’ Core Values of Quality, Respect, Integrity, Openness, Accountability, and Balance in accordance with personal work ethic in alignment with CalPERS Investment Beliefs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, initiate, maintain and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the INVO Advisory Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent and detect violations of policies, rules, laws and regulations as well as illegal, unethical, or improper conduct involving conflicts of interest.
  • Monitor and implement global, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and other legal guidance specific to the Investment Office’s operations and provide advice and guidance thereon.
  • Respond to and assess reports of operating or trading errors, evaluate severity of each event and work with appropriate staff to resolve, promptly escalate material events to Senior Management as needed, and provide periodic reports to Senior Management on significant events and resolution thereof.
  • Assist in implementation and oversight of the CalPERS Statement of Investment Policy for Insider Trading and lead development of INVO Annual Compliance Training.
